Add a little diversity TO YOUR Boishakh Wardrobe
Temperatures continue to rise as we transition from Chaitra to Boishakh, and on a day that promises to be both hot and humid, you could do a lot worse than choose a muted yellow sari. This cheery colour has thankfully low heat absorbent capacities and if you plan to have an outdoorsy Boishakh, this should be an important consideration. Elements of visual interest are incorporated into the sari in the form of green, blue and burnt orange borders and subtle silver jewellery can be used to infuse some charm. Do your hair up for a look that is both chic and will provide the requisite amount of respite in the heat.
If you seek to balance your love for the spirit of Boishakh with your taste for exclusivity, choose saris that retain the quintessential white and red in subtle, unorthodox manners. Stay true to your affinity for shada laal by opting for a one-tone grey sari with a multi-border combination of charcoal, white and red, in order of decreasing widths. Team this with a red and white polka dot blouse for that undeniable aura of flirty playfulness and mix and match jewellery by experimenting with varying lengths and metals.

If you are feeling particularly bold, feel free to go off on a tangent altogether and opt for a sari that has little to do with nude, muted tones. Solid colours such as blue will lend an element of spontaneity to your Boishakh celebrations and set you apart in a sea of white and red. In keeping with Deshal's signature style, this too has contrast borders in thin stripes of marigold and purple. Bring the outfit alive by opting for a bright marigold blouse and add some drama in the form of vivid eye makeup. Accessories too can be used to add new shapes and textures to your ensemble; options range from dangly silver earrings to large bronze totes to oversized goggles.
