ACC arrests suspended Sonali Bank officer, wife

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday arrested an officer of state-run Sonali Bank of Faridpur's Sadarpur branch and his wife for misappropriating over Tk 3 crore.
The arrest was made when Zakir Hossain, a suspended officer (cashier), and his wife Shewly Akhter came to ACC's Faridpur office in compliance with an ACC notice.
Maloy misappropriated the amount from 138 clients between March 2005 and August 2011 by issuing fake money receipts and deposited it in Shewly's account with the branch, ACC sources said.
A case lodged by the then branch manager with Sadarpur Police Station in this regard in July 2012 was later shifted to ACC.
