Abductors kill college boy, dump body in septic tank
Body of a college boy, who was abducted 17 days ago, was found inside a septic tank of district registry office in Barguna on Saturday night.
Police and family sources said, a gang abducted Anik Chandra Roy, 17, on September 19 and demanded Tk 3 lakh ransom from his father.
Son of Subol Chandra Roy of Thanapara area in Barguna district town, Anik was a first year student at Itbaria School and College in the area.
Police arrested five youths in connection with the abduction and killing. The arrestees are Salahuddin, 25, Rubel, 23, Hridoy, 24, Sohel, 22, and Nazmul, 25, of the town.
On September 19 afternoon, Anik went out of home and since remained missing. Subol filed a case with Barguna police station in this connection at night.
A shopkeeper in the area, Subol said after two days of abduction, a gang demanded Tk 3 lakh ransom.
He then went to Amtali upazila town with Tk one lakh ransom but failed to meet the abductors.
Later, following a message from one of the kidnappers, police recovered the body from the septic tank at 8:00pm on Saturday.
The body was sent to Barguna Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Pullok Chandra Roy, officer in-charge of Barguna police station.
During a primary interrogation, one of the arrestees, Salahuddin, confessed to killing Anik with the help of Hridoy, said the OC.
Stern legal action would be taken against those responsible for the killing after investigating the incident, he added.
Meanwhile, local people brought out a procession in the town yesterday, demanding exemplary punishment to the killers of Anik.
