Rapid Action Battalion members have rescued a six-year-old boy, who had been abducted from Tongi upazila of Gazipur four days ago.
The elite force members rescued Asaduzzaman Noor, son of Md Alem Mia, 45, from Joydevpur intersection around 10:30pm Sunday.
Kismat Hayat, commanding officer of Rab-1, said this while addressing a press briefing at Rab-1 Uttara headquarters on Monday.
Noor was abducted in front of a tailoring shop near his residence at Madhya Auchpara in Tongi around 10:00pm Thursday, the Rab official said.
Soon after the abduction, the kidnappers phoned Noor's mother to demand Tk 50 lakh as ransom.
Alem lodged a general diary with Tongi Model Police Station in this connection on Thursday.
Getting information from the family members, Rab-1 personnel conducted a raid at different parts in Gazipur city around 8:30pm Sunday and arrested Md Khokon Mia, 30, Md Shah Jamal Hassan, 35, and Md Mukul Mia, 25, who confessed to the abduction plot, the commanding officer said.
Of them, Hassan is a staff of the tailoring shop located in front of Noor's house.
He along with Khokon and Mukul had made the abduction plan, the Rab official said.
According to their plan, Khokon's relative Sumon and his associate Babu abducted Noor on the day before the Eid, he said.
The Rab men however are yet to arrest Babu, he added.
