7 AL men sued

Seven Awami League and Jubo League men of Dharmpasha upazila in Sunamganj district were sued yesterday for assaulting a Prothom Alo journalist five days ago.
Saleh Ahmed, the upazila correspondent of the Bangla daily, filed the case with the Dharmapasha judicial magistrate, allegedly after police's reluctance to record it.
The accused are upazila AL Organising Secretary Alamgir Kabir, his bothers upazila Jubo League Convener Zubayer Pasha Himu and Murad Mia, cousin Saiful Islam Polash, nephew Muhibul Hasan, and Jubo League activists Taimur and Polash.
The complainant said the accused beat him up at a function on March 26 in presence of police, as he wrote several reports on their complicity with extortion and other crimes.
