6th unit of Ghorashal power station opens Jan 31

The sixth power unit of Ghorashal Power Station with a 210-megawatt capacity will go into operation on Sunday (January 31), reports UNB.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the unit.

After the opening, the total production of Ghorashal Power Station would go up to 950 megawatt from 740 megawatt. The national grid will get additional 210 megawatt electricity augmenting the overall power situation.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Prof Rafiqul Islam yesterday visited the Ghorashal Power Station. Energy and Mineral Resource Secretary Dr Toufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Power Secretary GM Mondol, Chairman of Power Development Board Nooruddin Mahmood Kamal and officials concerned accompanied him.
