5 young Tigers conquer HSC
Five cricketers including national opener Anamul Haque and pacer Taskin Ahmed secured passing results in the HSC exams, the results of which were published yesterday.
Anamul, who had skipped the tour of Zimbabwe in order to prepare for his examination received an A-. The player is currently in England for Bangladesh A's tour against the England Lions.
Taskin, on the other hand received a B. The pacer currently recovering from a tendon injury told The Daily Star that he was extremely happy with his results.
“I really had no time to study. The Bangladesh Premier League ended just a week before the exams and that's when I started studying. Many actually expected me to fail. But I am glad that I received a B. This will definitely play a positive role in my growth as a cricketer,” said Taskin.
Allrounder Soumya Sarkar, who will be travelling with Bangladesh under-23 to participate in the ACC Emerging Cup in Singapore this August, also received a B. “I am not very satisfied, but there's nothing much I could have done. The exams were right after the BPL and I didn't get too much time to study. Regardless, it's good to get it over with,” said Sarkar.
Under-19 bowler Abu Hyder Rony, who is in England with the Bangladesh under-19 side for a tri-nation series, got an A+. Rony's brilliant results coincided with the under-19 team's first victory of the tour, in a warm-up game against England under-17. Meanwhile, Simon Chowdhury Jasim, another under-19 cricketer, received an A.
