4 killed in road accidents in three districts
Separate road accidents killed four persons in Sirajganj, Rajbari and Manikganj districts on Tuesday.
Our Sirajganj correspondent reported that two persons were killed and three others injured in a road accident near village Nukali on Nagorbari-Dinajpur highway in the early hours of Tuesday.
The dead were identified as Suruj Mia,30, of Jurain in Dhaka and Amran, son of Biplob of village Nukali in Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj district.
Police told this correspondent that the victim, Suruj Mia hijacked a truck on Monday night from near the house of its owner Biplob. Amran, son of the truck owner and three others were asleep inside the vehicle when it was hijacked.
When the truck was being hijacked Amran cried for help. People nearby rushed there. Suruj Miah got nervous and lost control over the steering, causing the accident.
Police seized the truck. A case was lodged with Shahjadpur police station.
A BSS report from Rajbari said a minor boy was crushed under the wheels of a microbus in Boalia on Rajbari-Kushtia highway.
The victim was identified as Rabiul, 7, son of Zilal Mia of village Charnarayanpur.
Rabiul was crossing the road.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
A case was filed with Pangsha police station.
Police seized the microbus.
Another BSS report from Manikganj said one person was killed and another injured when a Bagerhat-bound microbus fell from a bridge near Barangail on Dhaka-Aricha highway and caught fire.
The driver was roasted alive. Ruhul Amin, the lone passenger, was seriously injured and was taken to Dhaka.
A case was filed with Shibalaya Police Station.
