Hundreds of passengers remain stuck for hours in a 30-kilometre tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway after a covered van and a truck collided head-on in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla Thursday.
Describing the incident, Shainur Rahman Shahin, a sergeant of Eliotgonj Highway Police outpost, said a Dhaka-bound truck hit the Chittagong-bound covered van at Dighirpar around 9:30am halting traffic on the busy highway.
Drivers and helpers of both the vehicles sustained minor injuries, our correspondent in Comilla quoted the police official.
Police wrecker removed the damaged vehicles from the highway around two hours later, the sergeant said.
Meantime, hundreds of vehicles including buses and trucks queued up creating the huge tailback from Kutumbapur of Chandina upazila to Meghna-GumtiBridge toll plaza in Daudkandi upazila, he added.
