3 'robbers' beaten dead in Pabna
A mob beat three suspected robbers to death in Faridpur upazila of Pabna early Sunday.
The deceased -- Milon Hossain, Jainal Hossain, and Jalu -- hailed from different villages in the upazila, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting Faruk Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Faridpur Police Station.
Following recent escalation of robbery incidents at Hadal village, locals introduced neighbourhood watch, an organised group of citizens devoted to prevent crimes within a locality, the OC said.
Around 3:00am Sunday, the neighbourhood watch's volunteers saw a gang roaming suspiciously near a madrasa.
They announced presence of the gang using a loudspeaker of a local mosque and sought villagers' help in capturing the 'criminals', he said.
Later, the team with the help of locals managed to catch three of the gang and beat them to death while the others escaped the scene, he added.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to the Pabna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
