3 injured in clashes die
Three people, including a constable, who were injured in the recent clashes between Jamaat-Shibir activists and law enforcers in Bogra, Thakurgaon and Rangpur, died on Tuesday.
Mozahar Ali, a constable of Pirgachha Police Station in Rangpur, succumbed to his injuries at Combined Military Hospital in the capital around 11:00pm.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy, reports our Rangpur correspondent.
Ali was critically injured in the head as the activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, attacked him in Pirgachha upazila on February 28.
Mozahar, son of Shawkat Ali, hailed from Nasratpur village under Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur.
In Thakurgaon, Md Dulal, a Shibir activist, died four days after he was hit by a bullet during a clash with law enforcers at Goreya village in Sadar upazila on February 28.
Dulal succumbed to his injury around 10:00am at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said Md Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station.
In Bogra, Md Selim, a 17, died two days after he was hit by a bullet in a clash between Jamaat-Shibir activists and the law enforcers in the town.
Selim succumbed to his injuries around 6:00am at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, said Mokbul Hossain, additional superintendent of police (A circle-Bogra).
The ASP said Selim was hit by a bullet when police opened fire to disperse pro-hartal activists after being attacked by Jamaat-Shibir men at Satmatha intersection of the district town during the Jamaat-enforced 48-hour hartal on Sunday.
Selim was with Jamaat-Shibir activists during the clash, the ASP said.
With this, the death toll from the clash stood at 10, reports our Bogra correspondent.
The supporters of Jamaat and Shibir clashed with law enforcers at different upazilas of Bogra killing nine people on Sunday.
