2 shot dead in Khagrachhari

Unknown miscreants gunned down two people in Laxmichhari upazila of Khagrachhari Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Monaiya Chakma, 23, son of Sukramoni Chakma of Dakshin Suknachhari; and Shantimoy Chakma, 22, son of Ananda Chakma of Jurgachhari in the upazila, reports our Khagrachhari correspondent.

A gang of four miscreants opened fire at Monaiya and Shantimoy at Jurgachhari around 8:30pm and left the scene in two motorbikes.

Monaiya died on the spot while Shantimoy succumbed to his injuries on way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, Mohammad Kamrul Hassan, officer-in-charge of Laxmichhari Police Station, said quoting witnesses.

The bodies were sent to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

No complaint was filed in this connection until 11:00am Thursday when the report was filed.

Reason behind the killings could not be ascertained immediately, the OC said adding that they were looking into the matter.
