2 killed in city road crashes

Two middle-aged men were killed in separate road accidents in the city’s Elephant Road and Mirpur areas early Friday.

The victims were identified as Amzad Hossain, 40, son of Reshmat Ali of Rasulpur at Kamrangirchar, and Sultan, 40, son of Ashraf Ali of Chhapra Mosque area at Mirpur.

Hospital sources said Amzad received injuries as a vehicle knocked him down when he was crossing the road at Bata crossing in Elephant Road area.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 6:00am.

In another incident, Sultan was seriously injured when a speedy car hit him near Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-4) office in Paikpara under Mirpur Police Station.

He was whisked off to the DMCH only to be declared brought dead by doctors around 2:00am.

The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
