2 JCD men held in Chandpur
Law enforcers early Saturday arrested two activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on charge of hurling crude bombs at Foreign Minister Dipu Moni's residence in the capital last month.
Arrested Farid (full name not available immediately) is senior joint convener of Chandpur Sadar unit of JCD while Rafiqul Islam is a JCD activist of Chandpur Government College unit.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and detectives conducted a raid in Chandpur town after Friday midnight and nabbed the two, said Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station.
Later, the detainees were brought to Ramna Model Police Station for interrogation, the police official said.
On May 28, three crude bombs were hurled at the foreign minister's residence at Eskaton Garden while she was abroad.
None of Dipu Moni's family members were hurt.
