2 abducted men rescued in Bogra,one arrested

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) rescued two abducted people from Krisnapur village in Kahaloo upazila of the district on Wednesday night.
They are Rafiqul Islam, 28, son of late Jahiruddin of Shahonati village under Gouripur upazila, and Ratan Mia, 42, son of late Harunur Rashid of Bogaputa village under Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh district.
Police arrested one of the gang named Jewel Hossain, 37, son of Aftab Hossain of Krisnapur village.
Rab sources said Jewel developed friendships with Rafiq and Ratan over cellphone and invited them to his village home at Krisnapur. As Rafiq and Ratan came to Jewel's house at the village on June 3, he (Jewel) with the help of his accomplices confined them to a room and demanded Tk 1.5 lakh as ransom from the families of the two, sources added.
On receiving information from Rafiq's brother Azizul Islam, a team of Rab-12, Bogra, raided the village on Wednesday night and rescued the victims. They also arrested Jewel on the spot.
Azizul Islam filed an abduction case with kahaloo Police Station, accusing Jewel and four members of his family. Jewel was handed over to kahaloo police the same night.
