17 elected unopposed in Mymensingh
Seventeen candidates of the Union Parishad (UP) elections have been elected unopposed from different unions of Mymensingh district.
The lucky persons included a candidate for chairmanship, 10 women candidates for reserved seats and six male candidates for the posts of general members.
The candidates are Anwar Uddin Ahmed, the lone chairman candidate who has been elected unopposed from Rajoy Union in Bhaluka upazila, Shamsun Nahar, from Ward number 2 of Boyra union and Md Amir Uddin Sarker from Ward number 5 of Kustia union in Sadar upazila, Khalilur Rahman from Ward number 5 of Boragram union in Muktagachha upazila, Noor-Jahan Akhtar, from Ward number 1 Shefali Akhtar from Ward number 3 and Md Monjurul Hoq Manju, all three from Kaladah union and Md Saiful Islam, from Ward number 7 of Rangamatia union in Phulbaria upazila, Bilkis from Ward number 1 of Sumpur union in Trishal upazila, Hosne Ara Begum from Ward number 3 of Shakuai union and Md Mozammel Hoq from Ward number 3 of Amtail Union in Haluaghat upazila, Monwara Begum from Ward number 3 of Maigbagh union and Khodeja Khatun from Ward number 3 of Uchakhila union in Iswarganj upazila, Saleha Khatun from Ward number 2 of Banghna Mari union in Gouripur upazila, Morsheda Khatun from Ward number 2 of Dakkhin Maigbari union of Dhubaura upazila, Md Sadar Ali Sarker from Ward number 5 of Singhershar union in Phulpur upazila and Jharna Rani Roy from Ward number 2 of Sherpur union in Nandail upazila, said District Election Official (DEO) sources.
The DEO sources also said that 1297 polling centres and 6115 polling booths will be set up to conduct the UP election in1251 wards of 139 unions.
A total of 19642 officials including 1297 presiding officers, 6115 assistant presiding officers and 12230 polling officers will be appointed for the UP election
