14-party to protest anarchy
The ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance yesterday announced a four-day programme including rallies in different districts in protest against what it said was the opposition's countrywide anarchy.
AL presidium member Mohammad Nasim announced the programmes after a meeting of the alliance leaders at the AL president's Dhanmondi office in the capital.
The meeting slammed BNP and Jamaat for their “evil design to overthrow the government through backing Hefajat-e Islam's April 6 rally”.
As part of the 14-party programmes, a solidarity meeting will be held with women leaders on April 18 at the Dhanmondi office and rallies at district headquarters on May 2, 3 and 4.
Meanwhile, the 14-party alliance yesterday held a rally in front of the AL central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan yesterday.
At the rally, Nasim alleged that Transparency International Bangladesh's formula on the polls-time government was nothing but “BNP's formula”.
“It's not right to put forward BNP's formula in the name of TIB's. There is no need for this formula. The election will be held under an interim government,” he added.
Alleging that Jamaat and some other religion-based parties carried out genocide during the Liberation War in the name of protecting Islam, Nasim asked Hefajat leaders, “What do you want now chanting the same slogan?"
