1,000 Jamaat-Shibir men sued

Police on Tuesday night filed a case against 1,000 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamaat backed Islami Chhatra Shibir on charges of attacking police and obstructing them from discharging their duties in Chirirbandar of Dinajpur.
Md Harisul Islam, inspector (Investigation) of Chirirbandar Police Station, filed the case accusing the activists among whom 66 were named.
In a planned attack, Jamaat-Shibir men pounced on a policeman and thrashed his head with bricks in Chirirbandar during the countrywide daylong shutdown on Tuesday. At least 14 policemen were injured in the clash which followed.
