100 children fall sick after taking deworming pills
At least 100 children fell sick allegedly after taking government-supplied deworming tablets in Lohagara upazila of the district on Wednesday.
Md Jamal Uddin, headmaster of Lahuria government Primary School, said 60 students fell seriously ill after swallowing the tablets.
The kids, aged between 8 and 10, started vomiting and complained of abdominal pain soon after having the tablets, the headmaster added.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Md Shahidul Islam said as part of the countrywide deworming campaign, children were given deworming tables.
He said the sick students were admitted to the upazila health complex and different clinics.
Civil Surgeon Dr Abdus Samad said the sick children are gradually recovering and a medical team is working in this regard.
At least 40 students of Kashipur AC High School fell sick allegedly after having deworming tablets the same day. Of them, seven were admitted to the hospital while the rest given first aid.

Meanwhile, 21 schoolboys fell sick allegedly after taking deworming tablets in Sirajganj and Jhenidah districts on April 21.
Of them, ten students were from Kansona Government Primary School in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj, while the rest from Baithapara Government Primary School under Shailkupa upazila of Jhenidah.
