BCL leader hacked in Rangpur

Unidentified miscreants hacked a leader of pro-Awami League Bangladesh Chhatra League in Rangpur city's Dhap area Wednesday night.
Injured Rasel Iqbal Rayhan, 24, son of Iqbal Ahmed, is organising secretary of the district unit of BCL.
Police and witnesses said around 11:30pm three miscreants wearing masks rushed to the spot riding a motorbike and attacked Rasel with sharp weapons.
Md Shahabuddin Khalifa, officer-in-charge of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station, said they tried to arrest the culprits.
Boy found dead with rope tangled round neck in capital

A10-year-old boy was found dead with a rope tangled round his neck in their shanty at Lalmati slum in the capital's Pallabi yesterday morning.
The deceased was Ajay Robi Das, 10, son of British Robi Das.
Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Ziauzzaman said, “Primary investigation reveals that the child accidently strangled himself while playing with the rope.”
Robi's younger found the body in a sitting position on the bed around 10:00am, said the family.
3 muggers held in Ctg

Three people were arrested red-handed while mugging people in Atuarar Depot area of Chittagong city yesterday, said police.
The arrested are Md Yasin, 24, and Emran Khan, 24, of the city's Bayezid area; and Md Suman, 22, of Comilla.
Sairul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bayezid Police Station, said the trio and another were committing the crime in front of a jute mill around 5:30am.
The other managed to flee.
A case was filed with the police station.
Youth found dead at jungle in Ctg

A youth was found dead with his throat slit inside a jungle in Holodia area of Raozan upazila in Chittagong yesterday evening.
The deceased was Nasir Uddin, 28, of the area, was a fish trader, said Raozan police.
Miscreants might have killed Nasir around 5:30pm following previous enmity over fish farming, suspect police.
Library opens at Bangladesh embassy in Tashkent

Bangladesh embassy in Tashkent, in Uzbekistan opened a library at its office on Tuesday named after Acharya Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose and National Professor Kabir Chowdhury, said a press release yesterday.
Bangladeshi Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mosud Mannan, ndc and his wife Prof Nuzhat Amin Mannan of the English department at Dhaka University, along with ASM Waheeduzamman, the counsellor and all officials of the Bangladesh embassy were present at the inauguration of the library.
7 robbers arrested in Gazipur

A mob caught seven robbers in Falu Market area of Gazipur yesterday while they were planning for a robbery.
Asad Mia, Zakir Hossain, Sumon, Uzzal, Masud Rana, Sazzad Hossain and his brother Saddam Hossain were handed over to Sreepur police.
Seeing the seven strangers, inhabitants of Lohagas village questioned them and found seven machetes, two grille cutters and two spud-bars in their bags, said Sreepur police.
