Fog causes disruption at Ctg airport

Fog and poor visibility yesterday caused flight disruption at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong city.
Two domestic flights, one of US-Bangla and the other of Novoair, landed at the airport one hour late.
Meanwhile, two international flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines' “BG 028” from Abu Dhabi and Air Arabia's flight from Sharjah, UAE, were forced to land at Dhaka airport.
The two international flights reached Chittagong airport after 11:00am following improvement in the weather, said an airport official, Noor-E-Alam.

RU divisional round Physics Olympiad today

The divisional round of the 5th Physics Olympiad will be held at Rajshahi University (RU) today.
RU Physics Club and Bangladesh Physics Olympiad Committee with the assistance of Dutch Bangla Bank Limited will organise the Olympiad at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium.
Prof Emeritus Arun Kumar Boshak of RU physics department will inaugurate the Olympiad where 600 students from 60 schools and colleges of Rajshahi division will attend.

Scrap iron shop workers barricade road in Ctg for half an hour

Owners and employees of scrap iron shops in Chittagong city yesterday barricaded Madarbari road with scrap iron sheets, halting traffic movement for half an hour, in protest at the detention of their five fellows.
Police detained the five around 12:00noon as the workers were cutting scrap irons occupying footpaths and some parts of Badamtali and Mogoltuli road.  
The five were released as the owners assured police of not occupying footpaths for their work anymore, said Sadarghat police.

bKash agent murdered  in Comilla

An agent of bKash, a mobile money transfer service provider, was hacked to death by muggers at Duari Bazar in Debidwar upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased was Abul Kashem, 26, a resident of Duari village.
Parvez Sarkar, inspector (investigation) of Debidwar Police Station, said the gang swooped on Kashem's shop at a market at Duari Bazar while he was inside it around 1:30am. They hacked Kashem indiscriminately, leaving him seriously injured.
The miscreants also took a mobile phone and some money from the shop and fled the scene.
Later, local people rescued Kashem and took him to Debidwar Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injures.
Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to the Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Mirza Salman Ispahani elected new  
president of Tea Traders Association

Mirza Salman Ispahani, Ispahanai Group's managing director, and Abdul Hai Chowdhury, Ruby Tea Store's owner, were elected president and vice-president respectively during Tea Traders Association's executive committee election in Chittagong city on Wednesday.
Other members are Adil Hasnat Chowdhury, HSM Ziaul Ahsan, Bashirul Alam Chowdhury from general sellers group, Syed Peshnamaj, Mohammed Idris, Shah Moinuddin Hasan, M Muslim Uddin, Selim Khadim from general buyers group, Saiful Islam, from general broker group, Golam Mostafa from general warehouse group, Abdur Rashid, Gouranga Chandra Ghosh, Iqbal Hossan and Mridul Kanti Chowdhury from association member group.

Newborn found dead in Ctg

A newborn baby was found dead at Kattali embankment of Chittagong city yesterday.
Locals said they found the body, packed in a plastic bag, around 4:00pm.
However, police said they were not informed of the matter.
