Bodies of two newborns found

Police recovered the body of a newborn baby, inside a carton, from a drain beside Dhaka-Tangail highway in Harinhati area of Kaliakair upazila in Gazipur yesterday.
Meanwhile in Chittagong, another newborn's body was recovered from a dustbin near Jorarganj Police station in Mirsharai upazila.
Conference of BGB-BSF starts

A four-day regional conference of senior officials of BGB and BSF started at Tamabil Simanta Sammelon Kendra on Sylhet Meghalaya frontier yesterday.
At the meeting the BGB officials led by Brigadier-General Latiful Haider raised killing of Bangladesh nationals and other trans-border issues.
The officials will join a programme in the capital today.
Businessman snatched Tk 4.75 lakh

Snatchers allegedly took away Tk 4.75 lakh from a businessman after beating him with iron rods in the capital's Matuail yesterday.
Victim Hafizur Rahman, 34, who was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said some 10 12 persons obstructed him while he was returning to his shop in the area after collecting the money from customers.
Police, however, said they learnt that it happened following previous enmity.
65 Bangladeshi students awarded Australian scholarships

Australian government has awarded 65 Bangladeshi students scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies from 2015 in Australia.
Of the award receivers 50 percent are women and 17 candidates belong to ethnic minority groups, says a press release.
While congratulating the students at a ceremony yesterday, Australian High Commission's Counsellor for Development Cooperation Priya Powell said the scholarships would strengthen Bangladesh's capacity in key sectors.
2kg of gold seized in Dhaka, Ctg

Customs Intelligence officials detained a man with 1.1kg of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka yesterday.
Rahim, of Comilla, was a passenger of an Emirates airlines flight.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, customs officials recovered 10 gold bars weighing 1.16kg from a passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in the city yesterday.
The passport of Md Faruk, 29, of Raozan, was seized.
Man's body found in Khulna

Police recovered the body of an unidentified man, aged around 40, from a pond in Moheswarpasha Senpara area of Khulna city yesterday.
The body bore no injury marks and it was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, said Abu Musa Khandokar, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station.
Self-study website for BCS exam opens

StudyPress, an automated learning site for aspirants of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) and bank jobs, has been launched with an aim to help candidates prepare for the competitive tests online.
Using the email address or Facebook account, anyone can sign up at studypress.org.
The self-learning and evaluation platform was launched on October 2.
