Bangladeshi murdered in Dubai

A Bangladeshi migrant worker in Dubai was allegedly stabbed to death by Indian citizens there on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Kamrul Hossain, 24, son of Faruq Mia of Mohammadpur village in Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet.
Faruq Mia, father of the deceased, said six Indian citizens stabbed Kamrul indiscriminately with a knife following an altercation over a financial feud in Dubai around 7:00pm on the day.
Later, Dubai police arrested the six Indian nationals, said Faruq.
Three Jamaat-Shibir men held in Ctg

Police yesterday arrested two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and a leader of pro-Jamaat Islami Chhatra Shibir in Chittagong city for carrying out subversive activities during January 5 poll.
Shibir man Irfan Mahmud, 22, of Chandanaish upazila, is accused in two cases, and was arrested in Bakalia area.
Meanwhile, Jamaat men, Md Oli Ullah, of Jessore, and Abu Bakar Ibrahim, of Patuakhali, were arrested in Sagorike area.
Crude bomb found at RU hall

A crude bomb was found in Sher-e-Bangla Hall of Rajshahi University yesterday.
Residential students first noticed the crude bomb in front of the west block of the hall at 11:00am, said the students. Later, a team of Motihar police recovered the bomb.
Islami Chhatra Shibir activists might have kept it to create panic, said Motihar police, assuring that they are investing the matter.
Man dies as train hits him in Pabna

An elderly man died as a train hit him while he was crossing rail tracks at Chatmohar Railway Station after seeing off his son early yesterday.
Police and the locals said Kolkata-bound Moitree Express hit Augustin Kuti Koshta, 50, of Chatmohar upazila.
His son Bilash Kosta rushed him to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex where he died.
Rab member impersonator held

A Rapid Action Battalion member impersonator was arrested while extorting money from a business centre on Malibagh DIT Road in the capital yesterday.
A Rab-3 team arrested Sirajul Islam, 35, of Moulvibazar who admitted that he had been doing such illegal activity for several months, sometimes identifying him as an army captain as well.
Rab-3 personnel also arrested two other persons-- Liton Dey, and Mohamamd Dilu--with 41.5kg of cannabis at Banashree in the capital yesterday.
One held with 7kg of gold in airport

Customs officials yesterday arrested a man with 58 gold bars, weighing around 7kg, worth around Tk 2.90 crore, at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
On suspicion, the officials at customs lounge searched the body of Md Abdullah Al Amin, 30, of Raozan upazila, who came from Dubai by a Bangladesh Biman flight, BG 046, and found the gold bars hidden in his waist belt.
During primary interrogation Amin said he was given the bars in Dubai to hand those over to someone in Chittagong.
Malaysian High Commission's visa section closed Oct 5-7

The visa section of Malaysian High Commission will remain closed from October 5 to 7 on the occasion of Durga Puja and Eid-ul-Azha, says a press release.
Last dates for visa submission and passport delivery are September 25 and October 2 respectively.
DU geography, environment dept alumni assoc gets new body

AKD Deen Mohammad Khan and Abdus Salek (Maruf) have been reelected as president and general secretary of the Dhaka University Geography and Environment Dept Alumni Association for 2014-16.
The other office bearers are Vice Presidents M Fasiur Rahman, M Anwarur Rahman, Mohammad Shahjahan, Anisur Razzak ,Khandakar Abdul Hafiz, Treasurer M Ashraf Ali Akhand, and Joint Secretary Nazmun Nahar, says a press release.
