Foreign diplomats' training concludes

Bangladesh Foreign Ministry organised the first-ever training on International Relations and Diplomacy for foreign diplomats from August 17 at the Foreign Service Academy.
The two weeks training, that ended yesterday, was attended by 15 young diplomats from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Bangladesh, said a press release.
Woman crushed under train

An unidentified woman was crushed under the wheels of Dhaka-bound Jamuna Express train while crossing the rail line in Bhurolia area of Gazipur City Corporation yesterday.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical college Hospital for an autopsy.
Six workers electrocuted in Barisal

Six workers of Fortune Shoe factory were electrocuted while working in the factory in Barisal city on Thursday.
Tanjila Begum, 20, Omar, 20, Sumi, 18, Tania, 20, Aklima, 22, and Sufia, 20, were admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
They are now out of danger, managing director of the factory said.
Housewife 'commits suicide' in Ctg

A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence following a family feud in South Kattoli area of Chittagong city yesterday.
Ratna Dhar, 23, wife of Rupan Dhar, was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her death, police said quoting her family.

Our Netrakona correspondent reports, Abdus Salam, 40, of Himmatpur village, died when a truck hit him while he was crossing Netrakona-Mohonganj road in Mohonganj upazila.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent adds an unidentified man, aged around 40, died when a truck hit him while he was crossing Habiganj-Moulvibazar road in Mokambazar area of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila.
BU arts faculty dean resigns

Dr Muhammad Muhsin Uddin, dean of the faculty of Arts and Humanities of Barisal University (BU), resigned from the post on Wednesday.
Showing personal reasons, he also resigned as the chairman of English department and joint convener of admission committee, Monirul Islam, acting registrar of BU, informed.
The resignation letters would be sent to BU syndicate committee for acceptance, he added.
Dhaka Nursing College student kills herself

A student of Dhaka Nursing College yesterday committed suicide by hanging herself from a collapsible gate of the college located inside Dhaka Medical College Hospital compound in the capital.
Nurun Nahar, 22, of Tangail, was a second year diploma student of Midwifery.
On information, police recovered the body hanging by her scarf from an iron bar of the gate at the rear end of the college.
DMCH morgue sources confirmed that it is a suicide.
Syngenta trains doctors on pesticide poisoning

Syngenta Bangladesh Ltd, a leading agribusiness company, organised a training programme titled "Doctors Training on Handling Pesticide Poisoning" on Tuesday in collaboration with Toxicology Society of Bangladesh.
Dr Shahadat Hossain, civil surgeon, Bogra, inaugurated the programme in the district where 30 doctors participated, said a press release yesterday.
