Barisal observes World Press Freedom Day 2014

Journalists observed World Press Freedom Day-2014 with processions and a discussion in Barisal yesterday.
This year the day was observed with the theme “Media Freedom for a Better Future: Shaping the Post-2015 Development Agenda”.
Barisal Reporters Unity brought out processions in the city and held a discussion at its office.
Among other issues, media freedom, safety of journalists, gender roles in media and access to information were discussed.
15 Jamaat-Shibir men arrested in Ctg

Police arrested 15 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir in Satkania and Lohagara upazilas of Chittagong yesterday and on Friday in connection with subversive activities.
In an overnight drive in Satkania upazila, police arrested 10 Jamaat-Shibir men in different areas, including Chhadaha, Demsha and Kanchana, said Tipu Sultan, an assistant sub-inspector of Satkania Police Station.
Police, in another overnight drive, arrested five Jamaat-Shibir activists in Charamba, Kalaujan and Adarchar areas of Lohagara.
