Hasina, Khaleda shocked at death of Corazon

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her profound shock at the demise of former Philippines President Corazon Aquino.
“Her contribution to the movement for restoration of democracy in the Philippines is memorable,” the prime minister said in a message of condolence.
Recalling her personal acquaintance and identical views on issues of common concern, the PM said the government and the people of Bangladesh are “deeply shocked along with the people across the world”.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia also expressed her deep shock at the death of Corazon.
“President Corazon Aquino will forever be remembered for giving leadership to her people at a critical time in the country's history to end dictatorship and to the establishment of democratic rule in the Philippines,” she said in a condolence message.
