2nd International Children Film Festival at Chittagong
A three-day film festival titled '2nd International Children Film Festival Chittagong 2007' began in the port city yesterday with a view to offer the children an opportunity to enjoy quality films made specifically for them.
Children Film Society and Loukik are jointly organising the event in association with Chittagong Film Centre.
Eminent Historian, Dr. Sunity Bhushan Kanungo inaugurated the festival at Studio Theatre.
Member of Khelaghar Central Committee, Professor A.Q.M Sirajul Islam and President of Bangladesh Lekhak Shibir, Chittagong Chapter, Professor Nurul Islam Helali were present as special guests.
Mohiuddin Babu, general secretary of the Festival, said, they are eager to continue arranging such festivals for children in Chittagong in future in order to develop interest in films.
Badal Rahman's Emiler Goyenda Bahini was screened on the first day. In all twelve popular films from 11 different countries were screened at the festival.
The Wild from USA and The Blue Umbrella from India were screened at the festival. Four films by Charley Chaplin including The Bank, The Ring, By The Sea and The Immigrant are included in the programme. Iranian film The White Balloon and The Cup (Bhutan and Australia) will also be shown at the festival.
Three films including Swiss Family Robinson (USA, Spain and Switzerland), Mr Bin's Holiday (Britain) and Snow Queen (Netherlands, Russia and Britain) will be screened on the last day.
