Grassroots businesses should strengthen role: Analysts
Speakers at a programme yesterday emphasised strengthening role and activities of grassroots business communities.
They also called for properly executing one-stop service system in all spheres related to business with effective coordination between public and private sectors.
They stressed development of infrastructure, ensuring sufficient energy and fund, and easy communication system in Barisal to boost regional business.
Bangladesh Trade Support Programme (BTSP), funded by European Union, organised the programme styled 'visibility campaign' at the district town in collaboration with Barisal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Shek Abdur Rahim, president of the chamber, presided over the programme, which was also attended by Commerce Ministry Deputy Secretary Ziauddin Ahmed, EU team leader Shumon Khalid, and BSTP Programme Officer Faheem Mohammad Khan.
The ongoing Tk 65 crore 'visibility campaign' provides BTSP with an opportunity to give insight into the continuing future support to economic development of the country from EU, said Shumon Khalid.
The speakers at the programme called for natural gas supply from Shahbajpur Gas Field of Bhola to ensure energy supply, introducing hassle-free one-stop services in easy term investment loan, insurance, compensation and taxation systems.
They also discussed entry costs, transparency and access to information, participation, time costs of regulatory compliance, informal charges, crime prevention, tax, and dispute resolution for measuring sub-national economic governance performance.
