Party rivals stab Pabna AL leader

Rival party men stabbed Pabna district Awami League Joint Secretary Advocate Belayet Ali Bilu yesterday morning as a sequel to internal feud of the unit.
Belayet Ali Bilo, also the public prosecutor (PP) of Pabna, came under attack near Roy Bahadur gate in the town while he was going to the court from his Shalgaria residence at around 10:00am. He was admitted to Pabna General Hospital.
The incident occurred within a span of 24 hours of the attack on district unit Office Secretary advocate Abdul Ahad Bablu near the court premises.
Sources said Belayet and Ahad are leading two factions of the district unit. Ahad was assaulted by his opponents at around 11:00am on Wednesday. He filed a case with Sadar Police Station on the night against 18 people, including district Jubo League Secretary Ragib Hassan Tipu.
Protesting the attack on the AL leader, lawyers belonging to Belayet group boycotted the courts and held a rally in the town demanding arrest and punishment of the attackers.
Leaders and activists of the Belayet faction also brought out a procession in the town at around 8:30pm demanding punishment of the attackers.
Md Saidul Haque Chunnu, senior vice president of AL district unit, said actions will be taken against those involved in the two incidents.
