Pabna announces Tk 86cr budget

The Municipality of Pabna announced a Tk 86.03 crore budget for the current fiscal year without imposing any new tax.
Mayor Kamrul Hassan Mintu announced the annual budget at his office yesterday.
A project worth Tk 10.5 crore to dredge and develop the Ichamati river has been proposed in the budget.
The proposed budget has been based on expected revenue income worth Tk 9.69 crore from its own sources, while the remaining Tk 76.33 crore is expected to come in from outside sources and grants.
According to officials, the proposed expenditure matches the value of the income sources. In the new budget, development expenditure has been proposed at Tk 67.55 crore, under different projects.
Mintu announced the budget in a press conference at his office in the presence of municipality councillors.
The mayor said the people's principal demand, that is the dredging and development of the Ichamati river, has received the highest priority in the proposed budget. Development work would include construction of a sewerage line beside the river and repairs to the riverbed.
