Dangerous joyrides (July 5, 2009)
Teenagers of rich parents introduce new terror on roads with reckless driving of their modified cars
Well, all this could have been very easily avoided if the police were clean in the first place. Ninety percent of the traffic accidents is caused by buses, which the police are ignoring for decades.
A simple truth: as the government cannot provide police with basic things, the police take bribe from the joy riders.

These people need to be exposed to materials related to the French Revolution!! This is the consequence of parental negligence and absence of meaningful education in society. We ought to be ashamed of ourselves for tolerating such callous acts carried out by insignificant members of a corrupt class. It's time to stop these parasites from killing or maiming innocent bystanders.

I wonder how one can 'speed-off' or do 'joyriding' given the chock-a-block traffic in Dhaka.

Parents of these kids should take help from others, including the police, if they are unable to discourage their kids from these dangerous behaviours.
Thanks to Mr. Morshed for a very timely report and hope that he will monitor the progress.

This is a country where no complaints are addressed. One can do whatever he/she feels like.

This is the side effect of modern technology. They see or hear what their counterparts do in other countries, especially the West and think it is COOL and WICKED to follow. The authorities can see what is happening, but they turn blind eyes, simply because they have their own axe to grind. The attitude and behaviour of these rich kids are not conducive to our society.

Most of the car drivers in the cities have no driving license. Cars are unfit to run on the road, the drivers and owners have managed fitness certificate in an illegal way.

These modified vehicles are continuously creating unusual noises along the roads. The BRTA has become ineffective.
If you go and see around the private universities, 15/20 modified cars are parked around the universities and those could also be seized and fined so that parents are warned of such unusual and reckless happy-go-lucky drive by their rich children!

Crime, extortion still rule Karwan Bazar (July 4, 2009)
The government which we chose for the good of Bangladesh is not doing anything for the people. We feel hopeless.

It's hard to believe that most of those interviewed said they still had to pay large sums to the crime gangs to stay in business.

Feed the party cadres and hell with the countrymen!
One can understand the seriousness of the government regarding the law and order issues of the country when they look at the home ministry.

Those who want to be involved in politics must be from financially solvent families for at least three generations, otherwise this situation will prevail.
Poor people cannot be given the responsibility to run the country. This sounds outrageous, but this is a fact!

We are in a state of denial, we have to come out of it and understand and accept that extortions are taking place and we need to organise an awareness campaign for people.
