BSF picks up 5 Bangladeshis in Sylhet
The Indian BSF took away five Bangladeshi fishermen from Kushiyara river yesterday afternoon when they were fishing near Amolshid border.
Nasir Uddin, Sharif Uddin, Kuti Miah, Tajul Islam and Folai Miah of Pillakandi village near the border were fishing in the river, our Staff Correspondent in Sylhet reported.
As they reached near the mid-stream on board a boat, BSF picked them up.
BDR sources in Sylhet confirmed the incident and said steps were being taken for release of the fishermen.
Meanwhile, bodies of two Bangladeshi cattle traders who were gunned down allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on October 6 and 22 were handed over to Satkhira police Monday evening, Our Satkhira Correspon-dent reported.
The victims were Khalid Hossain, 20, of Keragachhi village in Kalaroa upazila and Rabiul Islam, 22, of Nazimgonj in Kaligonj upazila.
The two youths along with others had gone to India to buy cattle. They were shot dead at Tarali under Swarupnagar police station in 24 Parganas district while crossing the border with cattle. BSF took away the bodies.
Sub-inspector (SI) Subir Kumar of Swarupnagar police station handed over the bodies to Sub-inspector (SI) Shahin of Satkhira Sadar police station in Bhomra border, police sources said.
On contact, Satkhira police super Mirza Abdullahel Baki confirmed the incident.
