Road crashes kill 2 schoolboys
Two schoolboys and a man were killed in separate road accidents in Benapole, Gaibandha and Pabna yesterday.
A correspondent from Benapole said: A school student was killed in a road accident in front of Navarone Dishari School on Benapole-Jessore road yesterday.
The dead was identified as Hridoy, a student of Dishari School and son of Hritu Bhuiyan of Kalagachhi village.
Police said a passenger bus ran over Hridoy when he was returning home after appearing in the examination, leaving him dead on the spot at around 12:00 noon.
Agitated people blocked Benapole-Jessore road for three hours from 12:00 noon protesting the death of meritorious school student Hridoy.
Several hundred vehicles got stranded on both the sides of the road following the blockade and hHundreds of passengers, including women and children, faced serious sufferings.
The driver of the bus, however, managed to escape along with the bus.
On information police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Our correspondent from Gaibandha adds: A six-year-old schoolboy was crushed under the wheel of a speedy bus and three pedestrians injured on Bogra-Rangpur highway near Maa-Moni hotel yesterday.
Police said the accident occurred when the victim identified as Mithu Mia was returning home after taking an ice-cream from a shop.

The bus hit three pedestrians while it was speeding away after killing Mithu. The injured were given first aid at a local clinic.
Our correspondent from Pabna reports: A man was killed when a speedy bus hit him on Pabna-Rajshahi highway at Monharpur village on Friday night.
The dead was identified as Md Ziaur Rahman Zia, 25, son of Khalilur Rahman of village Monharpur in Pabna Sadar upazila.
Sources said a Pabna-bound bus hit Zia when he was going to his residence in a Nasiman, a locally made motorised vehicle, leaving him dead on the spot.
