WB president due Nov 3
World Bank (WB) President Robert B Zoellick will arrive in Dhaka on November 3 on a two-day visit to Bangladesh.
Official sources said Zoellick is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed and Finance Adviser Mirza Azizul Islam during his stay in the capital.
Zoellick's meetings with the chief adviser and the finance adviser may touch on the caretaker government move to fight corruption and restore good governance.
He is likely to meet Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus and exchange views with him on various socio-economic issues.
The WB president may also visit some NGO projects and government-run development projects being implemented with the bank's assistance.
Ahead of the WB chief's visit, the bank's local resident mission will organise a workshop at the NEC building of the Planning Commission on October 29. Senior government officials of the finance and planning ministry will take part in the workshop.
The workshop is likely to deal with issues related to achievements under the poverty reduction strategy scheme funded by the WB in Bangladesh.
