Task force to monitor NHA activities
The army-led Task Force against Crimes and Corruption yesterday stormed into the National Housing Authority (NHA) Bhaban on the premises of the Housing and Public Works Department and camped there to monitor its activities.
A team of the task force, led by Lt Col Abdul Khaleq, appeared at the National Housing Bhaban about 11:00am. After monitoring affairs of the department, the task force set up a temporary office on the ground floor of the building.
The foray into the Housing Bhaban came a day after another team of the task force visited and camped at Nagar Bhaban of Dhaka City Corporation.
Abdul Quayum, chairman of the National Housing Authority said, "The task force members will scrutinise service rules as well as how to improve the department's services for the city-dwellers. They will also monitor if there is any irregularity."
On Monday, the DCC came under the task force's supervision as part of the caretaker government's drive against institutionalised corruption in the second phase of the ongoing anti-graft campaign.
