Myanmar finish in style

Myanmar finished as champions of Group-A by winning their third and final match against Cambodia (1-0) in the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers Group-A at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
The game went into injury time at 0-0 when Myanmar midfielder Myo Min Tun brilliantly lobbed the ball into the box where striker Yaza Win Thein poked the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper to seal the match.
The match however was fiercely competed in the middle and Cambodia made some dangerous advances towards the Myanmar post. In the 64th minute a free kick from Cambodian forward San Narith hit the Myanmar post and ricocheted off to teammate Khuon Laboravy who took another shot to no avail. Four minutes later another freekick from a Cambodia midfielder missed the far left corner of the post by couple of inches. The Indo-Chinese kingdom looked aggressive in their approach as a minute later number 14 Sovannarath earned himself a yellow card.
However the match's fate was decided when Myanmar number 9 Yaza Win Thein scored the match winning goal and took his team to the final round of AFC Challenge Cup 2010.
Myanmar head coach Tin Myint Aung said that he was not satisfied with his side's performance in the match but was content with the over all result from the tournament.
"I think we could have played much better today and won it better than 1-0 but Cambodia really came hard at us and played very well. I appreciate my player's hard work throughout this tournament and as group champions I would like to thank my countrymen and the people here who supported us. Football is the main sport in Myanmar and our people expect us to win international matches so this victory means a lot to them and to be able to do it for them gives me a true sense of achievement," said Tin.
Cambodian head coach Prak Sovannara reiterated Tin's words on their performances agreeing that Cambodia played well but were a bit unlucky to eventually lose the match.
"We played good football throughout the match but were unfortunate to miss some close chances. The freekick which bounced of the bar post was unbelievable but things like this happen and we just need to pick the pieces from here and play better from next time," said the Cambodian head coach.
