English learning centres
We all have to start learning a, b, c, d with Bangla alphabets almost at the same time. But it is a matter of regret that after finishing college education, even university, many of us fail to write a correct English sentence. So, there are many English learning centres here and there which have been set up with the purpose of earning money from the those who wish to learn this international language.
But can students learn English properly from these centres? They charge thousands of taka for two or three months course, but we have doubts regarding the teaching methods. If we go through their ads we will find that each centre claims to be the best.
Some of them teach with grammar, others without it. Some claim that students will be able to speak fluently on the very first day of the course or seminar. Some say that their course is better than honours in English. Almost everyone claims that it has invented a “method” which is scientific and the best in the world.
When so-called language teachers do not have respect for their co-professionals, how can students be benefited by them? Lastly, I would like to request the newspaper to probe the curriculum, methods and other related matters of these centres to find out the good and bad ones.
