Expansion of Advisory Council
The question of expansion of the Council of Advisers has generated a scope for discussion in the country. Although the need for expansion of the Council was felt quite for a long time, the idea could not be implemented due to the absence of constitutional provision to that effect. But there is no restriction to appoint consultants or experts to facilitate the functioning of the Ministry or Divisions.
Since lots of activities are to be performed by this caretaker government, there should be resource persons like consultants to assist the Advisers and with the rank and status of state ministers or deputy ministers.
Political parties might feel that the CTG should not undertake much development activities and some major decisions be left for the elected government.
But as we observe now that the future elected government might be old wine in new bottle and might not be wise enough to do justice to the cause of the nation, we suggest the present CTG go ahead with major decisions and activities needed to eradicate poverty and achieve the MDGs.
