Domestic help fighting for life with burn injury
A minor domestic help, a victim of violence allegedly by her master's family, was sent to Dhaka yesterday with critical burn injuries.
Eight year-old Farzana Begum was working at the house of trader Wazzila Chawdhury at Nasirnagar upazila headquarters.
She sustained the burn injuries as kerosene was poured on her clothes and torched, sources at Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital said.
Farzana was rescued by neighbours and first taken to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex and then sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital. Nasirnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Shawkat Ali visited her at the health complex.
Contacted, the UNO has said he has asked the officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar police station to probe the matter.
Wazzila Chawdhury's family however claimed that Farzana received burnt injuries as a stove exploded when she was pouring kerosene into it.
