Hasina seeks Islamic leaders' help in finding out terrorists
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday sought cooperation of Islamic leaders and scholars in finding out terrorists and troublemakers.
“Islam is a religion of peace, but a vested quarter is undermining the image of this religion,” she said while exchanging views with a delegation of Kawmi madrasa and Islamic leaders at her official residence Jamuna in the evening.
The delegation members put forward some suggestions for overall development of the country's madrasa education system.
The PM gave them a patient hearing and assured them of providing assistance for the development of religious education.
The delegation suggested formulating a specific curriculum for madrasas by forming a commission with religious scholars and setting up a university to ensure discipline and coordination in madrasa education.
Hasina assured the delegation of discussing their suggestions and recommendations with concerned people at the government level.
Urging for putting an end to all kinds of misunderstandings through discussions, she said, “All must remain alert so the conspirators cannot take any advantage.”
Misbahur Rahman, Moulana Farid Uddin Masud, Moulana Mujibur Rahman Juktibadi, Moulana Ruhul Amin Sarker and AMM Bahauddin, among others, spoke on be half of the delegation.
They requested the PM to recruit one representative each from Alia Madrasa and Kawmi madrasa to the National Education Commission. In response, the PM assured them of considering their request.
