10 killed in road accidents
Ten people were killed and 23 others injured in separate road accidents in Netrakona, Dinajpur, Gaibandha and Gopalganj in last two days.
Our correspondent in Netrakona reports: Two people were killed in a road accident on Netrakona-Kendua road at Nowadia under Kendua upazila in Netrakona yesterday.
The dead were identified as Abul Hossain, 55, and Abdul Momen, 45.
Police and locals said the accident occurred when a truck knocked down their motorbike leaving them dead on the spot.
Police confined the truck but driver of the truck managed to flee.
Our correspondent in Gaibandha adds: Two people were killed in separate road mishaps on Rangpur-Bogra highway at Ramdev and Boalia in Gaibandha yesterday.
The dead were identified as Capt (retd) Abdul Matin, 55, and Nur Islam, 35.
Capt (retd) Matin was killed when their motorbike rammed against a tree on Rangpur-Gaibandha road. Two other injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
In another incident, Nur Islam, 35, was killed when a speeding bus crushed him under its wheels.
Our correspondent in Dinajpur reports: Three children including a girl were killed and nine people injured in two road accidents in Dinajpur and Joypurhat on Tuesday.
The dead were identified as Jony, 15, son of Abdul Jalil, Majidul Islam, 13, son of Md Kajal Ahmed of Birampur upazila in Dinajpur and Taslima Akhter, 7, daughter of Abdur Rahman of Dholahar village under Akkelpur upazila in Joypurhat.
Birampur police quoting villagers said that a Gaibandha-bound truck crashed Jony and Majidul near Birampur Filling Station on Tuesday night when they were returning home from Baishakhi fair at Birampur Bazaar.
Taslima was killed when a speeding bus collided head-on with a motorbike at Jamalpur village under Akkelpur upazila. Nine others were also injured in the accident.
The injured were treated at Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex.
A correspondent from Gopalganj adds: Three people were killed and 15 others injured in three separate road accidents in Gopalganj on Tuesday.
A Khulna-bound jeep knocked Rabi Sikder, 65, at Dumdia under Gopalganj Sadar upazila at 1.30pm. He was taken to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injury at 4.30pm.
In another accident bus helper Tariqul, 30, was killed on the spot and 15 passengers were injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Kashiani crossing on Tuesday noon. The injured were admitted to Kashiani Upazila Hospital.
Meanwhile, pedestrian Sabur Biswas, 75, was killed on the spot when a bus crushed him under its wheel at Mala village on Byaspur-Kashiani road.
