Attack on journo in Mymensingh condemned

Journalists in Mymensingh yesterday condemned the attack on Gafargaon Upazila Correspondent of the Daily Shamokal Abdullah Al Amin Biplob by miscreants on Saturday and demanded punishment to the culprits.
Signatories to the statement include Secretary of Sangbadik Union Ataul Karim Khokon, Mymensingh Reporters' Unity Secretary Md Saiful Islam and Secretary of Mymensingh Sangbadik Samity Md Mosharraf Hossain.
Biplob is now undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).
The miscreants chopped Biplob indiscriminately when he went to a shop in College Road area to fax a report.
Meanwhile, President of Gafargaon Upazila Press Club Ataur Rahman Mintoo filed a general diary (GD) with the Gafargaon Police Station on security grounds.
On contact, Officer-in-Charge of Gafargaon Police Station Md Jakiur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that police will take necessary steps.
But no case has been lodged to this end till filing of this report at around 7:00pm.
