All closed mills to be reopened
State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian assured that all the closed mills and factories in the country would be reopened in a reversal of the policy prescribed by donor agencies and pursued by previous regimes.
She spoke of the new government's move at a meeting of workers organised by Sramik League, the labour wing of the ruling Awami League, at the poura auditorium here yesterday.
”The profitable mills and factories were first denationalised during the regime of late president Ziaur Rahman, turning those into non-profitable concerns. In continuity of the policy, mills and factories were shut down one after another, rendering thousands of workers jobless,” she told her audience.
The state minister also deplored that Khaleda Zia “formed alliance with war criminals and patronised them as she doesn't support the War of Liberation”.
She alerted all against “the misdeeds of anti-liberation forces”.
Sramik League district unit President Saiful Karim, lawmakers Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and MA Jabbar also addressed the meeting.
