Members of the elite force allegedly beat up Ramzan Ali Palash, one of the hotel owners and nephew of Home Minister Sahara Khatun.
When contacted, Rab Director General (DG) Hasan Mahmood Khandaker confirmed the seizure of forged notes but denied assaulting Palash by Rab members.
Rab officials said acting on a tip-off, they arrested Jiban Mia and Jewel from English Road area. Following their confessions, Rab arrested Abdur Rob and Naser from a room of Imperial Rest House at Farmgate.
They also seized currency forging chemicals and papers from the two.
Palash, son of Mohammad Israil Mia, was later admitted to Al-Razi Hospital.
He told The Daily Star, "Five men carrying arms entered the hotel in the afternoon. Suspecting them as criminals, one of the employees shut the collapsible gate to prevent them from leaving the hotel."
When the plain-clothes Rab members found the gate closed, they got angry and beat up Palash, who was at the hotel counter.
"I told them that I am the nephew of the home minister but they assaulted me again," Palash said.
"A misunderstanding led to the assault on Palash," a senior Rab official told The Daily Star wishing anonymity.
