Call to help build confce centre in Ctg
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hasan Mahmud Monday said Bangladesh and China are close as well as friendly neighbouring states.
He said the relations between the two countries are historical and they are becoming closer day by day.
The state minister said this when Chinese Ambassador Zhong Zianyi met him at the foreign ministry.
Talking with journalists, the minister said they discussed the increasing trade relations between the two countries.
He said, “I have requested the Chinese envoy for giving duty-free access of Bangladeshi goods to China. I have also requested to assist Bangladesh in the infrastructure sector, especially in setting up a conference and exhibition centre in Chittagong.”
The minister said land has been allocated in Chittagong for setting up a conference centre like Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
Hasan said he also sought the ambassador's assistance in developing tourism industry, including Cox's Bazar sea beach.
Finnish Ambassador Asko Numminen also met the state minister at the ministry on the same day. It was a farewell visit of the Delhi-based diplomat.
During the meeting, they discussed the relations between the two countries and direct export of Bangladesh's ready-made garments to Finnish market.
