Patuakhali journo gets death threat
Kaiyum Ahmed Jewel, Patuakhali district correspondent of the Daily New Nation has received a death threat allegedly from two women activists of Hijbut Tauhid, an Islamic militant outfit.
Kaiyum filed a general diary (GD) with Patuakhali Sadar police station in this regard on Sunday.
Two sisters, Jeuin Nahar Poly, 32, and Taj Nahar Begum Putul, 28, entered Jewel's house at Government Girls' High School road in the town on Sunday noon and threatened to kill him, wife Ojufa Khatun Mithila and minor son Jubaer Ahmed Sabbir by exploding bomb.
According to the allegation, Poly is an woman activist of the militant body's Patuakhali district unit and assistant teacher of a girls' high school under Mirzaganj upazila and Putul is a member of the central unit and a nurse at a hospital in Dhaka.
Both the sisters were arrested by Sadar police with books, leaflets, CD on militancy on November 14 in 2008 and sent to jail. After release from the jail they have again returned to organisational activities, according to the GD.
Poly was the first wife of Jewel who divorced her on July 23, 2008 alleging her links with militant group.
