11 gamblers, 3 snatchers held in Sylhet

Police arrested 11 gamblers and three snatchers at Muftirgaon village under Biswanath upazila and Sobhani ghat in the district on Thursday.
On information, police conducted a drive at the village at around 1:00pm and arrested the gamblers and recovered Tk 4,253 in cash, two stamps, five mobile phone sets and four sets of playing cards from their possession.
In another incident, angry mob caught three snatchers while they were looting belongings of the passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw near Sobhani ghat police box at around 1:30pm and recovered a sharp weapon.
They were later handed over to the police.
The arrestees were identified as Shahriar Afzal Chowdhury, 29, son of Afzal Chowdhury, and Liton Mia, 27, son of Zamshed Ali of Shahi Eidgah area, and Ahmad Kabir, 28, son of Nunu Mia of Pathantula in the city.
