Ex-NSI man called again for quizzing
Investigators of the sensational Chittagong arms haul case yesterday sent notice again to former assistant director of National Security Intelligence (NSI) in Chittagong for interrogation.
"We have sent notice to former NSI assistant director Mohammad Ali Chowdhury for interrogation once again today. We are also waiting for the list of Bangladesh Coastguard personnel who were on-duty when the arms were seized," said the investigation officer of the case CID ASP Muniruzzaman Chowdhury.
The investigation officer said they would be issuing notices against other people and interrogating them after quizzing the former NSI assistant director and the Coastguard personnel.
Investigation of the seizure of 10-truck loads of firearms and ammunition at Chittagong Urea Fertiliser Ltd (CUFL) jetty on April 02, 2004 appears to have become sluggish.
Though the confessional statement of prime accused Hafizur Rahman, on March 2, rekindled hope but things slowed down afterwards.
The investigators so far interrogated five former CUFL officials and security personnel, three cops and five former leaders of CUFL CBA.
Following interrogation, former CUFL managing director Mohsin Talukder and former general manager (admin) Enamul Haq were arrested and placed on three-day remands each.
