Adivasi leaders demand rescue of Purnima
Jatiya Adivasi Parishad in a statement yesterday demanded immediate steps to rescue indigenous freedom fighter Shuklal Murmu's minor daughter Purnima Murmu from captors.
On September 29, Purnima Murmu was abducted allegedly by an influential person of Moyenpur village under Tanore upazila of Rajshahi.
In the statement, the parishad leaders urged the police administration and authorities concerned to take immediate steps to rescue the abducted girl. They said Tanor police did not arrest any accused person three weeks after the incident.
They condemned police's misbehave with Purnima's father Suklal and harassing indigenous people in the area.
Jatiya Adivasi Parishad President Anil Marandi, General Secretary Robindranath Saran and Organising Secretary Bimol Chandra Rajoar signed the statement.
