Bailey bridge collapses

A bailey bridge on Alipur-Kuakata road collapsed with a loaded truck yesterday noon disrupting movement of vehicles including those to tourist spot Kuakata.
Witnesses said a Kuakata-bound truck heavily loaded with bitumen from Chittagong was passing over the Bailey bridge when it collapsed.
Deputy Commissioner Reaz Ahmed said arrangements were taken to repair the bridge. He hoped road communication over the bridge would be restored by today.
